The new PTVL 2.5 Beta program is now open. Thank you for helping test the latest version of PTVL. Your feedback is important, so don't hesitate to speak up.
You can download the current beta from:
BetaPTVLInstall_021028.exe
You should have the following version numbers after installing the beta:
- WebLink 1.4b
- ListingSync 2.2b
- PTVL 2.5d

Be sure your Pocket PC is connected when you install and select yes/ok to any upgrade/reinstall questions.
Note:You will need to run WebLink 1.4b and have it update your Listings.dat file because the format has changed.
Please report your results (good and bad) and suggestions to the beta message board.
Here's an overview of the new features:
New Skin Engine:
- The skin engine has been completely overhauled.
- Some of the new features available to skinners:
- List views are now skin-able
- Non-rectangular buttons
- Multiple screens
- Animations
- Arbitrary Text Areas
- Arbitrary Indicators
- Command sequences
- There's a new desktop program called Skinz It! (PTVL Edition) to help create skins.
- Skinz It! will read old skins so you can get a jump start on creating your own.
Hyperlinked Details:
- Hyperlinks are created for:
- Program Names
- Actors
- Directors
- Categories
- Content
- Ratings
- Release Years
- Fixed a problem with hyperlinks when an actors was listed twice (new 09/29/02)
Searches:
- Much faster searches when selecting Program Name Equals.
- Much faster searches when selecting Actor Equals (if the index is present, see below).
- Added the ability to search on additional criteria:
- Director
- Content
- Rating
- Release Year
- Added the ability to search the current results.
Misc:
- Somewhat smaller Listings.dat file.
- Creating the index for Actors is now optional in WebLink.
- Searches for actor are slower without it, but it can save a chunk of space.
- My listings went from 1.3Mb to 1.0Mb without it, but your mileage may vary.
- Added a Movie View.
- Movies are sorted alphabetically.
- If there are no future showings of a movie it will be greyed out.
- Double-tap on a movie to view the details and see all the showings.
- Left/Right Arrows Move between letters (new 09/29/02).
- All Showings now works on this view (new 10/22/02).
- Added Episode Names on main views (new 09/29/02).
- Fixed updating of recurring reminders (new 10/22/02).
- Updated to work with new TVGuide.com format (new 10/22/02).
- Updated to work with new TVGuide.com format (new 10/28/02).
A few words of warning:
The new Listings.dat format used by PTVL 2.5 and WebLink 1.4 is not compatible with older versions of PTVL. Do not try to mix and match, it won't work.
You will need to run WebLink 1.4 and have it update your Listings.dat file or it could cause problems with PTVL.
